Silence, 1996

A sculpture protected and carried by four gigantic wheels. The wheels which usually stand for mobility and freedom are here arranged in a way that they entrap the body in the center and the piece can’t move in any other way then turning in senseless circles. The body in the middle has a ear horn type extension with a hole. Even this access is clogged with wax. The body emits a sound of heavy, mechanical breathing, similar to the sound of a respirator. Steel, Tape player, Speaker, Bee’s-wax. Size: 13.5 x 13.5 x 10.5″
