Happy Death in Life

Birth
into NOW
2007
Performance
Filmed and Edited by: Joerg Burger
The psychological shields behind which we hide to make life feel safer and to feel less vulnerable are social mecha-nisms with many aspects. Happy Death in Life and Birth into NOW is an attempt to break down some of the isolation these shields create. As we relinquish control over our lives, we experience a little death, but are reborn in the NOW, the only immediate reality.
In her two-part performance at Krinzinger Projects, Clarina Bezzola already tests the free fall by arriving in Vienna as a complete stranger, without an artwork. Empty-handed she asks people she meets to help support her project through donations of clothes. The artist then uses these shed skins to build the Society Web in which human beings get caught. In this installation, she illustrates the claustrophobic Society Dream in a performance with song and monologue - to finally liberate herself. |
