Gathering 2003

Cynthia Broan Gallery, New York

Gathering shows a congregation comprised of ceramic cylinders, each ejecting a unique personality from its face. This population has assembled for a gathering on the village green around a bell-tower.

A performance takes place in this scene where
I transform from my outer, delightful and proper singing Swiss maiden, to my inner, more erratic and worm-like being. It is in this transformed state that I give life to all the sculptural pieces. When every character has been revealed and the bell has announced the celebration, I devour the shed Swiss costume and exit the scene. I reappear dressed again in the Swiss costume to greet the audience.
